Subject: "full service"

Let's look again at Joe Waynick's recent statement that Alcor is the "only
full service organization in existence." This is one of his statements that I
questioned, and about which he did not respond.

What could it mean? On its face, it seems to mean that Alcor never requires
assistance from other specifically cryonics-related organizations. But in that
case, why did Alcor use the help of Suspended Animation Inc. in more than
one suspension?

I believe "full service" in the past has been taken to mean that the

organization provides both preparation and storage. By that criterion, there are
three full service organizations, if we include Trans Time, which has not had

much activity in recent years but nevertheless has--even recently--provided both
 preparation and storage.

Again, all this is probably a waste of time; and again, I am speaking for

myself. But it would be nice to see a higher standard of accuracy and less
spin.

Our president, Ben Best, and our chief counsel, my son David, have very high
standards of honesty. As for myself, I never lie, although I am willing to

withhold information in appropriate circumstances. My avocation in recent years
is philosophy, and I am much fussier about language than most. Once more, it
seems clear to me that almost everyone would gain if we could agree to
refrain from all comparisons, whether direct or indirect, in dealing with the

public and with prospective members, and offer information ONLY about our own
organizations.

Seems like a pretty simple proposition, not requiring protracted
negotiation. How about it?
