X-Message-Number: 24693 From: "Joe Waynick" <> Subject: To Ben Best and Others Date: Wed, 22 Sep 2004 10:16:09 -0700 Ben, Thank you for your message. I want you to know that I had no intention of upsetting or insulting you or your membership with my posting. I also want you to know that I too am interested in developing a good working relationship with you. I am afraid I must plead guilty when you say "I have seen you get caught-up in this mutual recrimination." I am willing to commit to you that I will not participate in any more point / counter point discussions concerning our respective organizations. It is an unproductive use of our resources and fosters divisiveness. Perhaps you and I can regain some of the lost traction you mentioned since the CryoSummit. As far as the comparison page is concerned, my objection is to the page itself. How can others claim that no comparisons whatsoever should be made between Alcor and CI and still support a page on the CI website called, of all things, "Comparisons?" And then justify the hypocrisy by claiming it was created in "self defense." Why not simply create a page called "The Benefits of Cryonics Institute." Talk about your strengths, perhaps (if I may be so bold), what you perceive as notable weaknesses, and why someone may elect to go with CI. I see no need for a direct mention of Alcor, or any of the many subtitle comparisons of Alcor pricing, methodology, procedures, and rescue operations. I will not get into line by line specifics here because any objective person reading the page will understand what I am saying. If you want that kind of detail, then lets get on the phone and review the page together. My comment that your personal website "heavily promotes the CI perspective of cryonics" was meant as just that. After all, you are the president of CI. Why would it not promote the CI perspective? I made that statement to illustrate that Alcor does not ban linking to sites that promote cryonics organizations other than our own. In short, I found nothing offensive about your website. I have no issue with you or CI. I cannot purge every grain of competitiveness from my nature any more than you can. Nor do I expect to be attacked simply because I am proud of the organization to which I belong and openly promote our strengths. With the exception of one emotionally charged recent Cryonet posting, you have never seen me publicly compare our organizations and I have no desire to do so. I prefer the climate of cooperation and mutual respect that I believe we both strive to achieve. I am also looking forward to discussing with you ways we can mutually support our respective organizations. --jw CEO/President Alcor Life Extension Foundation * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Alcor Life Extension Foundation 7895 E.
