The thought was that this gets over the problem you describe in the same way that a cake can be shared by one person cutting it in two and the other choosing which half to take. I feel that this is over and above the very correct point being made by others that getting exercised about who is best is rather odd in the first place. A comparison of this sort would be a public service, in any industry. In the UK we have something called the Consumers' Association which does such things full-time, published in a widely read magazine called "Which?".
