Nice of you to tell me what I "should" want... ;-) .

I don't want my capacities for pleasure restored -- I want them
expanded. I want eyes and ears that can process more frequencies
and amplitudes of light and sound. I want bones and organs that
can withstand greater forces, so I can experience the exhilaration
of high speed and great height without fearing I'll break a bone
or worse, and go deep underwater without SCUBA gear. And while I'm
at it, I'll want my brain to have capacity to learn the skills to
exercise these capacities, and to appreciate the input I get.

And I want all this without giving up what I have -- at least
until I'm sure I won't miss it. Or I can undo it. Hey, maybe
if I upload, I can download into a meat-body sometimes as a kind
of vacation!

Oh, foo. I certainly expect that by the time I have to make such
decisions I'll be a lot smarter than I am now. And if circumstances
conspire to make the decision for me (I'm frozen and uploading is
the only option for my survival, say), well, it's made and I can
decide at that point whether or not I like it.

I think I'm talking myself out of having this discussion at all; I
have a lot else to do with my current slow brain and body. You folks
have fun.

Live long and prosper,
Kennita
