X-Message-Number: 2504 Subject: OMNI CRYONICS CONTEST From: (Ben Best) Date: Tue, 28 Dec 1993 22:08:00 -0500 I'm very pleased with the way the article on the OMNI cryonics contest came-out on pages 56-60 in the January 1994 issue of OMNI magazine. As promotion, I think it is a great improvement over the disappointment of last year concerning OMNI's wording and picturing of cryonics and the contest. Charles Platt did a terrific job of writing-up the piece -- and it was undoubtedly a lot of work to pick a winner. What irony that Charles has quit Alcor over disagreements with the Board of Directors. I don't think there has ever been a full-page ad in a major publication to compare with the likes of the one promoting Alcor on page 59 of the January OMNI. Is Hugh Hixon now spending 24-hours a day talking on the telephone? I'm not sure it was such a good idea to direct all callers to talk to one person, but I suppose this was an effort to associate cryonics with a person having scientific credentials. If some Alcor staffer would post a note on CryoNet as to how well this OMNI piece is netting cryonicists, I'm sure most of us would be appreciative. -- Ben Best (ben.best%) Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=2504
