This will motivate them to take steps to avoid repeating the paths of those who have died before them....which could very well save their lives. << The difficulty here is that if cryonics gets to be point of being perceived as a cult which requires its adherents to give up everything and live and work wherever the cult is, it will be closed down. Cryonics is perceived as a religion by many who don't look into it carefully. But there are important differences 1. No one ever got rich as a result of working on it. 2. It does *not* offer sure and certain knowledge of reanimation. Therefore there is a point of balance that has to be achieved as to what steps people take and are encouraged to take. However much time and money people give away to the cause, cryonics *may* not work overall and even if it does, it *may* not work for them. I certainly think that trying to inject fear into people to make them "take steps" is not a good idea for the long term benefit of the movement. Those that become aware of technical issues can work out for themselves where they want the balance to be. It will be different for every individual. -- Sincerely, John de Rivaz: http://John.deRivaz.com for websites including Cryonics Europe, Longevity Report, The Venturists, Porthtowan, Alec Harley Reeves - inventor, Arthur Bowker - potter, de Rivaz genealogy, Nomad .. and more Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=25083
