Haftka" <> Subject: I just need a thousand years to sort things out References: <> A minimalist view I think that the debates on identity, uploading, and values are interesting and pertinent to cryonics. However, we should not expect to reach definite conclusions at this point in history. Imagine somebody debating cloning a hundred years ago (before Crick and Watson), or think about all the debates for hundred of years that engaged very bright minds on how to synthesize gold. Evolutionary psychology is very young, and the insights that it provides on values are probably at a very preliminary stage too. So rather than worry whether uploading will be possible and preserve my identity, or what set of values is consistent with Cryonics, I just want more time to sort things out. Give me another thousand years, and I will be much better informed on these important questions. Rafi Haftka Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=25446
