X-Message-Number: 26226 Date: Mon, 23 May 2005 08:52:30 -0400 From: Thomas Donaldson <> Subject: Congratulations and hopes for SA To readers of Cryonet: The reports by Suspended Animation look good. It's not clear from them, however, that SA is working on vitrification at all, and vitrification should have a high priority for any organization proposing to suspend patients (no matter where they come from). Existing cryonics societies, particularly Alcor, have also reported what they did when they only reached their patients very late or after an autopsy in which bureaucrats looked at the patients' brains. Any organization which does suspended animation in cryonics will one way or another face such patients. It's entirely within the rights of SA to simply refuse to work on such patients, but just what approach SA plans to take with such cases wasn't discussed. I have been a member of Alcor for some time, and have no present plans to change. The whole issue of whether or not suspensions should (or shouldn't) be done by a separate organization is raised by SA as it has been before --- that SA looks like it may actually succeed in making a viable organization. The more the better. I hope it succeeds. Best wishes and long long life to all, Thomas Donaldson Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=26226
