The existence of species specific maximum lifespans does not mean aging is "programmed", merely that there is SOME interaction between our genes and how we age -- which is pretty obvious. Time for you to read Steve Austad's "Why We Age" which critiques the different views of aging from an historical and scientific viewpoint.
