I think I need to weigh in on this nutty idea about suing
"religion." The one thing that has surprised me the most after working
at Alcor these past 18 months is this obsessive need too many
cryonicists have to engage people of faith in useless confrontation.

This religious question always seem to center around how big and/or
popular churches are, how much money they make, and the fact that they
are tax exempt. Why is this so important to cryonicists? Are we so
desperate for attention that we are willing to pick a fight with goliath
FOR NO GOOD REASON???

I hate to burst your bubble Dave and Rudi, but people of faith could
give a hoot about cryonicists or cryonics. They have more important
things to do, as should we. Rather than run around angry that the big
bad evangelists either ignore us, or do not agree with us, our time
would be better spent developing creative ways to increase our own
numbers, improve our technology, publish more scientific papers that
substantiate our theories, and being good citizens.

Still, what religion "guarantees" eternal life? None that I know of,
and I go to church a lot. Good luck trying to prove that one. However, I
am sure that if all 1,200 or so card carrying cryonicists that exist in
the world were to take on the TWO BILLION church going people of faith,
that somehow, (maybe by the grace of God), we would prevail? Yeah,
right. The best thing we have going for us right now is that the
religious right pretty much ignores us!

Save your money, save your energy, save cryonics, save yourselves.
Get off this suicidal path and do not prove the conservative right to be
correct when they claim cryonicists are a bunch of fanatics. Focus on
the positive. Do something constructive for the industry. Hold a WELL
PUBLICIZED cryofeast. Make a pledge to the endowment fund. Donate your
talents by becoming an Alcor volunteer. Drop your veil of secrecy
surrounding your membership and become public members; then openly talk
about cryonics in a constructive way with your friends, family, and
acquaintances. There are many ways you can tribute without war
mongering. PLEASE, give it a rest!
