Date: Wed, 29 Jun 2005 09:48:44 -0700 MIKE SAID: Dave Pizer has unnecessarily used a whole lot of words and strained logic and to state the obvious, DAVID: I hear (see) you talking Mike. Can you back it up? Where is the logic in my argument strained? Here it is again: 1. Some religions guarantee their follower will have Heavenly eternal life under certain conditions. 2. Some followers believe these religions' claims and so they believe they don't need any other method of trying to obtain long life. 3. These claims of eternal Heavenly life by religions may be wrong. There may not be any eternal Heavely life after biological death on Earth. 4. Cryonics may work and may lead to very long life. 5. Some followers of religion may reject signing up for cryonics only because they believe they are going to have eternal Heavenly life after biological death on Earth. 6. If it turns out that there is no Heaven and if it turns out that cryonics works and leads to very long life or even physical immortality, if this happens, then the religions have hurt those people (that they convinced to go for the Heaven option and therefore reject cryonics) in the worst way possible. Why? Because if the people they convinced to only opt for the religion's chance at eternal life (and if it turns out it didn't exist) had also opted for cryonics (and if it turns out that it did work), those people would be alive for more and longer life instead of having to be dead forever. SHOW ME THE STRAIN! Further I also claim: 1. We cryonicsts, if we are going to try to live for a very, very long time in this world, have an obligation to try to make the world better and one way is to promote and demand truthfullness from all people in our world.
