Not providing the minimum foundation for existence to all citizens leads to crime, which is much more costly to society as a whole. These simple facts have unfortunately not penetrated policy in most places. I am happy to report that this policy is written into the Constitution of Denmark. Unfortunately, it is now being eroded by opportunistic politicians promising low taxes and more "freedom". dss David S.
