Questions and comments: Exactly how, "Tru Numberman", did you get the numbers you give for CI and Alcor? WHO told you these numbers? I happen personally to be a member of Alcor. However I will add that there are other factors than number which are important in judging a cryonics society: is their number increasing or decreasing, and if so how fast? In fact, I'd go so far as to say that knowing such facts about society numbers dominates any immediate figure for now 25 July 2005 Monday. I say this for reasons that should be obvious, knowing that whatever the number of fully signed up cryonicists may be is small relative to almost any other group --- TINY in fact. If CI is growing much faster than Alcor, that would be much more significant than their absolute numbers at present. Even if CI were growing at the same rate as Alcor, that would say something important. For that matter, if one of them is shrinking while the other is growing, that would be VERY significant indeed (I don't believe this is happening, but the possibility should be included). So if you have some magic access to members of both Alcor and CI who can give you accurate numbers of total members, then here are some more questions you can ask them. I must admit that for me, the mere statement of numbers WITHOUT SOURCES just doesn't weigh very strongly. Best wishes and long long life to all, Thomas Donaldson Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=26689
