X-Message-Number: 26720 From: Subject: Re: Comparing Organizations Date: Thu, 28 Jul 2005 19:13:22 GMT It appears that due to slowness in the internet my last two messages will be appearing in reverse order. Apart from fully funded Members, attempts to compare CI Membership numbers with Alcor numbers would be procrustean. A CI Option One Member has paid a $1,250 Membership fee, which is not comparable to any Alcor category that I know of. A CI Option Two Member has paid a $75 Initiation fee and $120 per year Membership Dues. Option One and Option Two Memberships only confer the priviledge of creating a fully-funded membership with executed contracts -- plus subscription to THE IMMORTALIST. Any attempt to provide a number of "applicants" would be arbitrary. We have a drawer full of messages from "applicants" and people who are "thinking about it" or "wanting more information". This process goes on for years and years, in many cases. -- Ben Best From: Michael Riskin Thank you Ben, for clarifying this. Apparently, when you and Mr. Ettinger refer to "members" it is in a different frame of reference. For the sake of consistency, lets all identify a "member" as someone fully signed up and funded. Any body else who has shown interest but is not funded or signed up can be a "supporting member", and anyone who has actually started their paperwork towards becoming a "member" may be called an "applicant" if that is all right with you. So, when Mr Ettinger discusses CI's rapid growth rate, apparently his count includes the "supporting member" type, which by itself is a larger group than the " member" group. Alcor has disclosed its "applicant" group numbers. Does CI have a similar count of applicants available? Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=26720
