Subject: multiple provider policies

I had written:

>as I understand it, Alcor will not store
>someone who is prepared by another organization."

And Platt replied:

>This again is speculation, and is not correct. In the 1990s
>Alcor accepted two former CryoCare patients who had been
>cryopreserved by a completely independent organization. In
>addition some Alcor cases were performed in conjunction with
>Suspended Animation at a time when the departure of Fred and
>Linda Chamberlain left Alcor less prepared to handle cases
>than it is now.

This is disingenuous, mere quibbling. The point is not about isolated

exceptions, but ongoing policies. Unless I am badly mistaken, Alcor will not
allow
advance planning for preparation by another organization followed by storage
at Alcor, or preparation at Alcor followed by storage elsewhere. CI on the
other hand will allow any combination the member chooses, if it is clearly
spelled out.

In practice, at present, this means mainly that CI will allow initial work
by Suspended Animation followed by completion and storage at CI--at a total
price far below Alcor's. CI has a formal contract with Suspended Animation,
while Alcor, as far as I know, does not.
