Hi Charles,

Well of course I have a lawyer. Duh!

Our first attempt will be to try to get licensed as a cemetery under the
existing laws. The only exception we might need would be that we would
not be zoned as a cemetery. So approval would not break any laws. It
would depend on our ability to convince the mortuary board to give us a
license. As I said, they are very reasonable. We are modeling this
after the CI license for a cemetery, except that we are not asking to be
treated differently than other cemeteries. CI's license includes a
number of exceptions.

If the board has any objection, it will probably be that cryonics does
not qualify as permanent interment in the same manner that a sealed
crypt in a mausoleum would. After hearing the facts, if they do have
that objection, then we will start to fight that battle. I don't
believe this will be harmful to cryonics. Quite the opposite. This
battle will need to be fought on a state by state basis. The earlier we
start, the earlier we will get regulation and oversight in place that is
crafted with our help rather than without our knowledge, as happened in
AZ. I think everybody knows my very pointed opinion by now that Alcor
should either be licensed as a medical facility or a funeral
home/cemetery or even both. You can't just go around doing your own
thing and hoping nobody will object. That's the kind of behavior that
causes a backlash, not what I'm doing.
