Like Ettinger, Olaf expressed concern over divisive political debate. But I'm wondering if Olaf or Robert could explain exactly how the cryonics community (if indeed there is one) could be broken up by debate. Partisan positions might create some sort of schism - but probably only in terms of a flame-war. How many cryonicists or potential cryonists will be seriously put-off by debate? Many people expect discussion of this kind, regardless of what the "real" subject is. I'm not convinced that political debate will do much damage to cryonics - but ignorance certainly could. Let's try to understand what the threats are to ourselves in life and suspension through reasoned discussion by exploring politics - among other things.
