But clearly something went wrong because it is only on the archive. And there is another http://web.archive.org/web/20010922134105/www.bioreceptor.com/ But clearly something went wrong because it is only on the archive. How many more, I wonder. I certainly think credit is due ... to the technical expertise of the people that designed the web builder programs used to create these sites. It seems that any idiot can produce a site that looks as though it is from some well funded organisation. One of the reasons why this is possible is because legitimate organisations use this type of software and don't seem to worry that people on dial up can hardly use their sites because they are so slow to download. Such ponderous software is known as "bloatware". But it is worrying that this site is asking for gifts of money which should really be going to Alcor and CI and other legitimate cryonics organisations. It is bad enough that the money could be deflected, it is worse when one considers what the ramifications will be if there is a public investigation. I also note that there are job opportunities offered - again a monetary transaction with complications if it goes wrong (such as the salary, income tax, insurance, pension contribution etc., not being paid after work is done). according to http://iubio.bio.indiana.edu/soft/BIOSCI/ARCHIVE/bioforum/bioforum.200107 Mr Despres wrote in 2001 > Hi everyone, > > I am searching a co helper or a co owner for BioReceptor.com, I created > several websites already and Arya (He is doing his M.S. in biochemistry > presently) and me (I am doing my S.B. in sciences) are providing news to our > community. Mr Despres clearly has lots of experience in producing sites that get visitors and look nice and official. If he is genuine in his interest in cryonics, I suggest that at least the cryonics one (but preferably all of them) is modified so that any requests for gifts are directed straight to a legitimate cryonics organisation, and job opportunities etc are purely links to organisations that can provide genuine employment, ie with salaries and which fulfil all the legal requirements of employment. If cryonics works and people can live for thousands of years, there is far greater opportunity for the rest of the world to catch up with any malfeasances. -- Sincerely, John de Rivaz: http://John.deRivaz.com for websites including Cryonics Europe, Longevity Report, The Venturists, Porthtowan, Alec Harley Reeves - inventor, Arthur Bowker - potter, de Rivaz genealogy, Nomad .. and more > Message #27127 > From: > Subject: 3472 unique visitors for NanoAging!
