X-Message-Number: 2714 From: Date: Sun, 01 May 94 13:34:56 EDT Subject: CRYONICS clarify sheep On the subject of others repeating Cryonics Institute's sheep head experiments, a correction and comment. In the printed procedures we mailed, we made a mistake about the cool-down and warm-up times. We said 7 days to dry ice and another 7 days to liquid nitrogen, which is what we do for humans. But with the sheep heads we actually took 5 days to dry ice and 5 days to liquid nitrogen, then another 10 days to warm back up to room temperature. It could also be important to note that we saw considerable individual variation from one sheep head to another--variation in the difficulty and quality of washout and perfusion. Therefore it will be useful to get as many specimens as feasible, and by as many different investigators. At present it looks like we will have Dr. Pichugin's group in the Ukraine (who have already started), probably Alcor, and perhaps Dr. Soloviov's group in St. Petersburg. e Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=2714
