We could have our regulations available for any lawmakers, state agencies, etc. It would hopefully give them guidelines to follow and show them that we really have thought it through. Each cryonics provider could get 'licensed' by the self-regulating group. I would like to see the following: 1. License the cryonics storage facility 2. License individual members of any first response team 3. License individuals performing the actual suspension 3. Guidelines for personal and public safety 4. Guidelines for financial matters In other words, we don't want someone like Depres claiming that he has a legitimate storage facility. We don't want someone performing a suspension unless they can demonstrate adequate knowledge and training. We don't want someone fleecing a little old lady with promises of living forever.. There are currently no restrictions on any of this. I think various governments would be impressed if we made ourselves jump through hoops, assessed fines for improper behavior, and attempted to help shut down unscrupulous organizations. Who's going to do all this hard work? Heck, I don't know. That's why it probably will never get done. On the other hand, maybe we could start really small and simple. Just have each cryonics organization recieve a three year license. Have a one page form to fill out with some simple questions. And of course, a website should be formed that looks sharp and lists all the licensed members on it. I don't think any of this would cost much money. On the other hand, it would probably work a lot like the current U.N. The members would consider themselves above the regulatory body, and would do what they feel like anyway. Maybe the only way it will happen is if it's forced on us someday Jordan Sparks Content-Type: text/html; [ AUTOMATICALLY SKIPPING HTML ENCODING! ] Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=27197
