X-Message-Number: 27220 Date: Sat, 15 Oct 2005 10:15:20 -0400 From: Thomas Donaldson <> Subject: repeat + more of former msg Hi everyone! I WILL REPEAT HERE WHAT I SAID IN MY LAST MESSAGE. It's not that I expect anyone in the 14 October Cryonet (#27209-27219) to have seen my last message, but that *** as a start only *** I think it best to adopt a minimal set of standards. That minimal set of standards would deal not with actual procedures but with what each society does to make sure its members aren't defrauded, and secondly the ideas used to allow storage for an indefinite future time (ie. how is the money provided by a member in suspension handled). If we could provide a separate organization of full-time people with all the accounting and medical qualifications required, then many of the suggestions raised would become quite useful. Perhaps in the end we will even be able to do that. However I know of no reason at all to believe that we can do so NOW. Moreover, I will say that if we make a very simple setup to start with, then we can grow it later, while if we wait to do anything then we'll inevitably have to deal with regulation by governments, friendly or not. Best wishes and long long life for all, Thomas Donaldson Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=27220
