Cryonetters,

I would like to clear up a little misunderstanding.

Thomas Donalson in his post:

# 27241: for Jeff Davis and others

comments on "a facility "somewhere in the American
desert"", describing a number of
drawbacks/disadvantages associated with a facility in
a remote location.

My choice of the desert southwest was not based on
remoteness, or any putative security or other
advantages derived from remoteness. My choice of the
desert southwest was based solely on the high level of
solar radiation and the low cost of land. I'm
perfectly pleased with someplace just northwest of Las
Vegas, or near Tucson, or Santa Fe. Just far enough
away that the land is cheap.

Also, the facility could be dual use, like David
Pizer's Creekside Resort. A little community with
enough folks to meet human social needs.

An obsession with security, rising almost to the level
of paranoia, isn't something I ascribe to. I think
it's way overblown. I'm quite happy with
slightly-more-robust-than-usual security
arraqngements. Rampaging luddites, religious
fundamentalists, earthquakes, floods, plagues, nuclear
wars, etc seem to me more bogeymen than real concerns.

YMMV.

Best, Jeff Davis
