But just about everything else about time is simply mysterious. (Space too, for that matter.) According to the current dominant interpretation of quantum theory, the present is ambiguous, hence also the past and future. Some big brains think actions in the present can change the past. Others think there is more than one dimension of time, as well as many extra dimensions of space. On the world stage, the fat lady isn't even warming up.
