X-Message-Number: 27349 Date: Fri, 11 Nov 2005 08:27:11 -0500 From: Thomas Donaldson <> Subject: Why the odd message? To Eugen Leitl: Your message telling about a paper which looks at hypothermia at a high level doesn't tell me much at all. It tells me almost nothing about the work which cryonics societies are attempting, which aims to eliminate freezing at much lower temperatures --- and of course the treatment of someone while they're still considered as living tells us very little about how to deal with someone who is "officially dead". You might add a bit on just why what you say is important to me and other cryonicists. I'm sorry but it just doesn't ring any bells. The message by someone else on this issue is even worse. That person sounds to me that she needs a little science, just to start with. I have an old bibliography on suspension, done before most of the recent brain science existed. I'm happy to send this to you for photocopy cost + postage. A quick way to learn how we now think our brains work is harder. I did do a recent article in PERIASTRON which very briefly summarized our current state of knowledge (articles in PERIASTRON are usually about 2 pages). Alcor has the right to use that article but so far as I know that hasn't happened yet. I can either mail you a copy of that issue (12 pages) or send you a copy of the article by email (1 large text, 1 small caption, and a picture in a machine independent form --- not the normal kind which works in PC and Macs, but something much more independent). Best wishes and long long life to all, Thomas Donaldson Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=27349
