Subject: 206'th update on fly longevity experiments

This is the 206'th update of my fly longevity experiments. Average
temperature was 25.8 C during this run. Estimated maximal longevity using
 the formula (363 - T*11.2) is 75 days.
B.R. donated a small amount of centrophenoxine for the current run.
Due to the instability of centrophenoxine in solution, some dry
centrophenoxine powder was also presented to the flies on top of some
plastic coasters anchored on the surface of the fly food. I can confirm
that the flies did indeed spend some time on the plastic coasters in
contact with this powder. However whether any of this powder was ingested
 is subject to conjecture.
No benefit was seen with centrophenoxine in either its wet or dry
forms. This was an unexpected disappointment. However an expiry date of
March 1999 on the foil encapsulating the pills might possibly explain
 this negative result.
