X-Message-Number: 2764 From: Date: Wed, 18 May 94 22:29:11 EDT Subject: CRYONICS trygve wednesday Trygve Bauge tells me the following (to the best of my recollection and reading of my notes): The Nederland council yesterday passed an ordinance (vote 6 to 1) to ban cryonics in that city (population around 1500?). The mayor had reportedly told someone that it was just a zoning problem, with Trygve in a residential zone; but Trygve says the city includes commercial and industrial zones, and the law bans cryonics everywhere in the city. The Council passed the ordinance as an "emergency" ordinance. The effect of this is to by-pass the usual rule that a few citizens can sign a request and delay the effect of an ordinance. Trygve says he has easily enough support in the city to hold off the ordinance at least six months, if it were not an "emergency" ordinance. Trygve's attorney thinks he can show there is no emergency, or otherwise obtain an injunction against enforcement of the new ordinance. The Council also passed a second ordinance, fining Trygve $300 for every day his grandfather remains where he is. Joe Vigeretto (spelling uncertain) at telephone 303-258-7892 is helping to organize Trygve's defense organizations. Those who want to help should call him, among other things. Trygve will be on a major Denver radio station for one hour beginning midnight local time tonight. Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=2764
