X-Message-Number: 2782.1 From: Trygve Bauge <> Date: Tue, 24 May 1994 06:11:53 +0200 Subject: telnet/ftp/bbs access at CU, mines or Boulder Hey Siri, Rob, Joe, Laura, Craig, Tom, Walter etc. I have interactive Internet access here in Oslo and have been using e-mail, news groups, irc, telnet and ftp, but am still looking for a bbs with interactive internet access in Boulder that I could use as a message hub there in my battles against the townhall in Nederland and the I.N.S. I am able to use telnet to interactively access a bbs at the University of Denver, but the application to get full access is cumbersome and takes 4 weeks for everyone who want to use that bbs. I would prefer interactive access to a bbs in Boulder that any supporters easily and fast could get full access to. Pinecliffe doesn't have interactive Internet access, do you know of any bbs in Boulder with interactive Internet access, that might be willing to serve as a hub? Or any Colorado BBS that I can reach and use by way of telnet or FTP? Please pass on a copy of my press list to the freeze-tax waste committee in Nederland. (e-mail address ) If the committee hasn't got this list yet, it is the list of the fax numbers and assignment desk numbers to all the main press outlets in the Boulder/Denver market. Gordon Golding at 494-5730 has several copies, so does my mother 582-0142. I think you (Siri 492-1445) and Walter 494-3348 have one each too. It was in each of the sign up packages at this year's iceswim, as well as in each of the press release packages I prepared in February. I am working on a fund raising press release, and would like to e-mail it to Rob or anyone else in Boulder that then could use my fax list to pass it on to all the news media. So far I have an e-mail address for the Daily Camera and for the Colorado Daily, If anyone could come up with e-mail addresses for other news media in Boulder/Denver, this would make it much easier to communicate with the press! here are a few useful e-mail addresses explained: Robert Ettinger Cryonic Institute: , Jim yount american cryonics soc: , cryonet/kevin brown: , Alcor /mike Perry: , Mary Margareth in Fort Collins: , Mary Margareth in Fort Collins: , Jim Yount at American Cryonics soc:, cryonisist? , cryonisist? , cryonisist? , ? , Journalist in Los Angeles , cryonisist? , Nederland activist Rob Savoye , Nederland activist Laura Khiro , Nederland activist Joe Vigorito , bbs sysop Craig Baker/CDB systems , Josh Poley , Josh Poley , bbs sysop Tom Hayward , polar bear Walter Goedecke , Polar bear Thad Smith , Polar bear Thad Smith , Thad's wife Mindy , ? , Polar Bear Siri Jodhi Khalsa , Daily Camera Clay Evans , Jerry Lewis Boulder County , Colorado Daily , Me , From: Trygve Bauge <> Date: Thu, 26 May 1994 02:19:37 +0200 Subject: Modem pools I am able to access a modem pool at the University at Ames in Iowa the format is the following: telnet isn.rdns.iastate.edu return (or: telnet return Open isn.rdns.iastate.edu return) prompt then says DIAL: and I type in: modem return the screen says: RINGING ANSWERING I type in: atdt 8,232-7631 return to access Hannibal Toal's bbs the screen says: dialtone and I am logged onto the bbs If no connection I have to repeat from the DIAL prompt. I can log on to any bbs in the 515 area code using the above code just changing the phone number (232-7631) (8, is just to dial out of the Ames campus.) What is the similar code sequence to use telnet (or ftp) to log on to any of the modem pools in Boulder/Denver/Golden and get such modem pool to call Pinecliffe for me, so that I end up being logged onto Pinecliffe bbs? PINECLIFFE'S modem numbers are 303-642-7463 and 303-642-0703 I have assistant sysop status on that bbs, and Craig (the owner) will let me use his BBS as a message hub for my battles against the town hall in Nederland and the I.N.S. Thus it is important that I find a modem pool that I can telnet into and use the modems of to call and log onto Pinecliffe with. >From a local modem pool in the Metropolitan Denver area it will be a local/free call to Pinecliffe. Thus it is cheaper to telnet to such a pool than to track down and use a modem here in Oslo. Any input is appreciated. Trygve From: Trygve Bauge <> Date: Thu, 26 May 1994 03:10:53 +0200 Subject: BUILDING PERMIT Chronology Laura, please pass this on to Joe! In regard to the Nederland Townhall's recent revocation of our Building permit. Original building permit issued around November 1st 1991 I contacted the building inspector every 1/2 a year therafter and the record should show that it was renewed for 1/2 a year at a time around the following dates: May 1992 renewed to November 1992, November 1992 renewed to May of 1993 I have written copies of the above permit and extensions. We did the foundation in November of 1992 the red steel in the spring of 1993 and the upstairs metal decking in April/May of 1993 When I spoke to the building inspector Paul Yo in May of 1993 about another written extension of the building permit he said that we were o.k. since we were busy building and that the building permit was still active. Basically he orally extended the permit. I don't think I got a written copy of that extension. I remember asking for one but he told me we were O.K. We got a construction loan around the 1st of August 1993, and kept working on the house continuously from about August the 4th to end of November 1993 The house was routinely inspected at various times that fall first by Paul Yoe, then by three inspectors from Boulder county and then from Bob the new building inspector for the town of Nederland. I met with Bob about 2 or 3 times up at the house and sometime in late November or early December of 1993 he gave me a list of 5 things he wanted me to do before he would issue a preliminary certificate of occupancy. The list called for installing all the doors and windows Caulking all the doors and windows Securing the upstairs exits, preferably with railings, completing the rough plumbing and completing the rough electrical. I have installed the doors and windows with the exception of the skylight which is stored in one of the wood sheds. I have caulked all the doors and windows I have blocked off the 2 upstairs sliding doors and installed locks in all the exit doors including the upstairs door. I kept calling the plumber (A[the] Sharper Image and Mike Linde) but got just excuses and delays, the contract calls for that company to complete the rough plumbing, out of a bid of $ 2,900 they have been paid all but about $700 but have apparently lost interest in completing the contract at the agreed upon price. (George Wilson 'Chip' who rents from Walter 494-3348 knows the plumber) The electrical contract is with AAA electric in Longmont, as soon as we pay them the contracted amount of $3,500 they will complete the rough electrical. So far they have done about 1/3 of the work but hasn't been paid anyting yet. I told Bob, the new building inspector, that our lease was up on our apartment in Boulder and that we needed to move into our house for economic reasons. He said he would be reasonable as long as we showed progress on the house. We moved in around Christmas and I kept working on it myself in January and February until I had to leave the house in late February because of the illegally issued I.N.S. deportation order. Based on the inspections and my conversations with the building inspectors I assume we still had a valid building permit as of the day I got deported. At no point did any building inspector indicate to me that the building permit had run out, and based on my conversation with Paul Yoh in April/May of 1993. I took it for granted that the building permit would stay active as long as we kept building and that a written renewal was not needed. I AM WILLING TO COME TO BOULDER TO GIVE A DEPOSITION IN THE ABOVE MATTER. Trygve B. Bauge P.S. The foundation for the metal sheds and the metal sheds themselves were inspected by Paul Yoh who said these were O.K. I had already O.K.'ed with him the site plan changes, whereby we postponed the tunnel and garage and instead opted to build a few temporary sheds.
