X-Message-Number: 27845 From: Subject: Hippocampal Slice Cryopreservation Project results in published paper Date: Thu, 13 Apr 2006 20:16:56 US/Eastern For those people who donated money to the Institute for Neural Cryobiology five or more years ago, I am pleased to announce that results of the Hippocampal Slice Cryopreservation Project (HSCP) have finally been published in the April 2006 issue of the journal CRYOBIOLOGY, as "Cryopreservation of rat hippocampal slices by vitrification" Pichugin Y, Fahy GM, Morin R. (Cryobiology 2006 Apr;52(2):228-40): http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=16403489&query_hl=1&itool=pubmed_docsum The entire paper is available on-line as a PDF file: http://www.21cm.com/pdfs/hippo_published.pdf On my website there is a summary of the HSCP which includes much of the background research that did not get included in the CRYOBIOLOGY paper. I also give a short summary of the results of the CRYOBIOLOGY paper: http://www.benbest.com/cryonics/hscp.html Again, I give great thanks to those who contributed money to this research. Dr. Pichugin who is the lead author (and who is currently our cryobiologist researcher at the Cryonics Institute) gained experience in this research project which he has applied to his research at the Cryonics Institute. The results of this research were also of value for 21CM in the development of its vitrification solutions. This research was a great step forward in the technology of brain vitrification and I am pleased that your donations and the Institute for Neural Cryobiology were able to fund the work. -- Ben Best, President Institute for Neural Cryobiology Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=27845
