From reading the plot description, the book doesn't seem to be anti-cryonics. It
looks like cryonics is used as a plot device to project a contemporary human 
into a dystopian future where the consequences of global warming, authoritarian 
government and human indifference to pain and suffering are the order of the 
day. Authors may choose to highlight the more dramatic aspects of cryonics 
suspension and revival, just like certain television programs make a point to 
show blood, guts, and other icky aspects of crime or medical procedures.


Regarding the 'Singularity;' prior to computers or machines taking over the 
world and eradicating human life, perhaps the creators of those technologies 
could include programming similar to Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics:

1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human 
being to come to harm. 

2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such 
orders would conflict with the First Law. 

3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not 
conflict with the First or Second Law.
