Subject: A Simple Request

I'm not trying to be the cryocops here, but wish to respectfully request of
all posters that you make intelligent use of the SUBJECT LINE in your posts.

The subject line is the first thing readers look at to determine whether
they want to bother reading the post or not. Posts with subject lines such
as "Re: CryoNet #28036 - #28041" or just "Re:" are totally useless for
this purpose.

If you are replying to a CryoNet post and your email program puts such a
subject line automatically into your email, simply highlight the subject
line field and change it ... works in every email program I know of.

Having said that, I'm sure there are many readers who will not bother even
looking at your post if it does not have a meaningful subject line. You
may think "well, all the posts are in the Digest and people have to go thru
them all anyway"; however, entire digests can be trashed without reading,
and some folks do not get CryoNet by email at all, preferring to read the
messages individually from www.cryonet.org.

Bottom line: if you want people who are interested in your subject to read
your thoughts on it, use an appropriate subject line. Plus it's the
courteous thing to do.
