X-Message-Number: 28300 From: Kennita Watson <> Subject: Looking for participants for cryonics panel Date: Mon, 7 Aug 2006 15:51:26 -0700 Hi all -- For SF Bay Area locals and globetrotters: I'm going to be moderating a panel at SiliCon next month (Friday-Sunday, October 6-8, 2006, at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose, CA) on the topic of cryonics. I submitted the following summary (subject to change): > "Cryonic Suspension -- How Are We Doing? > There have recently been a number of advances made in > putting people in cold storage, but we haven't gotten > anybody back out yet. What's the state of the art? > When will we start reviving people? Is it even > possible, and if so, how?" I am attending as a representative of (my own) Cryonics Advocates, an organization-neutral organization whose purpose is to increase public awareness of and support for cryonics. I have persuaded a member of Alcor to sit on the panel; I would like to have members of other organizations, and even a skeptic or two, as well. I expect (hope for?) a lot of audience participation. SiliCon is a science fiction/media/comics convention which includes a hard-science programming track. The convention costs only $35 to attend for the entire weekend if membership is purchased by August 31; $45 thereafter and at the door. The Web site URL is http://www.siliconventions.com -- not much info there at this point. Please post (or email me off list) if you are interested in the panel or have questions, comments, or suggestions. Thanks, Kennita Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=28300
