My name is Larry Lee. I read the posts regularly. I live in Calgary, Alberta,
Canada. I have sufficient interest that I have already registered to attend the
6th Alcor Conference in October. I would be interested in getting and paying for
cryonic-related training if held in the western provinces.

Isn't it sweet to have some relevent ideas in your
email box every day? Anyway, this morning's "new idea"
is "XCR" for eXperimental Cryogenic Rescue. It's a
continuation of an idea related to Steve's article
"Has Cryonics taken the wrong path?". Cryonet is a
poor tool for keeping track of discussions but it's
excellent for "announcing" threaded discussions
elsewhere. This is such an announcement. No log in
neede to read-- very easy log in procedure to post.

I second Patrice's post, but as far as I know, she and myself are the only
cryonicists I know of out here in Alberta. Charles G is in B.C., but are
there more cryonicists out West?
From what Patrice is saying, she is making minimum arrangements (more than
myself!):
ice in the freezer,
ice bath instructions,
objection to autopsy,
EZ-shampoo basin
is there anything else that should be minimally aquired?
Even if training cannot be made available, what minimum protocols and
information are possible for us?

Anthony, I didn't write clearly enough. My first thought was to write to the
CRYONICS organizations to encourage them to emphasize the medical approach
and cooperation with medical people. My assumption is that an organization will
be able to push for that cooperation more than an individual.
Unless.... you have direct contacts in the medical field. do you have
friends who are doctors, nurses, paramedicas or EMTs? Do they respect your
opinions? Can you talk credibly about cryonics to them? If you don't have some
kind
of official position or some kind of medical knowledge, just writing letters
to strangers probably won't achive anything.
However, you are likely to have more influence right now with your cryonics
organization and with other cryonicists. Start by offering to work more
closely with other cryonicists. Together you can find ways to approach medical
organizations.
