I've had the opportunity to explain Cryonics to several people, technical and non-technical. The best way I've found of explaining it is to draw analogies to a fairy tale. Here is the canned speech. Me: That's my cryonics bracelet. Them: cryonics? What's that? Me: Have you ever ever heard the story of rip van winkle? He goes in the woods and falls asleep for 20 years, then wakes up? That's what cryonics is. When I die, this company will freeze my body and wake me back up when technology catches up in the future. Them: 5% like walt disney? 1% like ted williams? 94% some befuddled look like I'm a crazy person Me: I don't want to live forever, but it would be really neat to meet my great great grandchildren. ... This is the point where I'd like to have something to give to them ... A little mini-book .. perhaps with a comic book story of cryonics, reanimation, and links to Alcor and CI. BTW, "cryonics death in the deep freeze" from national geographic is on google videos now. -Ejay Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=28471
