I wanted to put in my two cents in support of Ben Best concerning the name change. I have not followed all the emails on the topic, but I remember reading in greek mythology or elsewhere about somebody who asked to become mortal. I can see why the term antagonizes some religious people because indeed I view cryonics as a substitute to religion for myself (I do not imply that it is for anybody else). One of the roles of religion is to relieve anxiety about death, and this is exactly how I use Cryonics. Finally, I have a lot of experience in editing scientific papers, and I always chide authors to choose the most descriptive name for their papers or new methods. So I believe that the terms life extension and cryonics should appear in the name to allow people to guess from the name what we are about.
