Subject: CRYONICS Image Transmission

I think people are missing the boat here on what it is we really need. What we
need is a way to send a *document* out over the electronic mailing list, not a
piece of text and accompanying figures as separate files. Sending the figures
as GIFs would still leave each person with the problem of viewing them and
correlating with the related text. The closest thing there is to a standard
way of sending a *document* with figures and images is printing it to
PostScript format. PostScript documents can be sent to printers, or viewed
online via previewers, such as GhostScript, which is available for PCs and Unix
systems. Since most document preparation systems can output PostScript, this
would keep people like Mike from having to learn very much at all, but still be
able to make the full glory of their documents available to others.
