Thanks for the list. I'll certainly use iLife '05 if I
feel less overwhelmed in time and money and can try it.

It would be nice to get cryonics ideas into youth
subculture, but I'm not sure I know a "viral youth
subculture video" when I see one -- I got bowled over
backwards when I looked up "youth subculture" on
Wikipedia; even more so on Google.

I don't think it would work for me to specifically
target youth subculture; I would just come off as
lame and insincere. Permissive and open-minded,
I can pull off; 1337, no. ;-)

These are the ones I see, from most to least feature-rich
from a quick look:
http://eyespot.com/
http://www.jumpcut.com/ (now owned by Yahoo!)
http://www.motionbox.com/
http://www.videoegg.com/
http://grouper.com/
...
 From http://www.newmediamusings.com/blog/2006/06/online_video_ed.html:
"All of the sites, which include Jumpcut, Eyespot, Grouper and
VideoEgg, have been introduced within the last year. This summer,
they will be joined by another site, Motionbox, based in New York."

I can see myself picking music I liked and the youth
hated. Or that they liked the month I made the video
and hated a month later. Best to keep my cryonics
message fairly generic for now, I think.

The Mac has GIMP, and the PC has Paint.NET. Both have
Wikipedia entries.

Flash costs big bucks. Not for dabbling. The cheapest
version I've seen is from OEM Gallery:

I look forward to having time for this.

Just an anecdotal opinion, for anyone who thinks to use
such a tool in a cryonics video: I hate those things.
I don't like my computer talking at me. If I can't shut
them up, I leave the page quick. AAMOF, I saw one just
today that I think would let you do this easily, and left
before I saw what it was; maybe you'll run across it again
soon.

I hope some other folks will try making cryonics-outreach
multimedia presentations; I have more important things to
do to get ready to go.

Live long and prosper,
