But has anyone tried it? On the basis that it will be a long time before reanimations occur, it should be possible to use leverage to place a relatively small sum to ensure a fortune in the future, this leaving estate residues available to strengthen your cryonics service provider Another possibility would be to place a bet with an on line bookmaker to say that "I bet XX that by the year YYYY I will be reanimated from cryopreservation." I tried this many year ago (by post before "on line" was even available). The bet was rejected on the basis that it was against the rules to take bets on life and death matters. It was strange that I used the same company that took a bet something like "I bet that Elvis will descend to Earth in 2000". In terms of insurance or bets, it ought to be possible to capitalise on the fact that most people are happy to think that cryonics will never work. If they truly believe that, then they could be able to accept $1000 from a punter on behalf of their company on the promise to replay him a thousand times that if he is reanimated on or before 500 years in the future. Of course the insurance or betting company itself may not exist 500 years in the future. -- Sincerely, John de Rivaz: http://John.deRivaz.com for websites including Cryonics Europe, Longevity Report, The Venturists, Porthtowan, Alec Harley Reeves - inventor, Arthur Bowker - potter, de Rivaz genealogy, Nomad .. and more Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=29282
