Date: Fri, 6 Apr 2007 12:13:15 +0200 A National Science Foundation sponsored survey study at Stanford University will be open for questions on any topic. The questions will be selected based upon competitive review of those submitted. It appears that an objective of the study is investigation of survey techniques. Thus, the nature of the questions is of secondary importance. This permits other social scientists to get high quality data gratis. The call for questions is expected at the end of 2007. A set of questions on life extension technologies, including cryonics, could be submitted. However, to have a good chance of being included in the sponsored survey, they should be based upon previous research in the area. That is, they should try to answer questions that have not been asked before and would contribute to theory development. Thus, contributed questions should be based upon a review of theory and of existing instruments for measurement. This is an opportunity to get solid data on why people sign up for suspension or engage in other life extension activities. Since a top quality survey can cost a thousand dollars per interview, this could be a way of getting a million dollars worth of results gratis. However, it does require a professional effort in question formulation, if there is to be much chance of question inclusion. dss David Stodolsky Skype: davidstodolsky Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=29392
