(Rudi Hoffman writing from sunny Florida) I add my congratulations to Chrissie D. to that of Shannon Vyff copied in part above for a reasonably favorable article/interview with Chrissie on Cryonet earlier. Nice job, Chrissie! And, may I request to the rest of us that when you get YOUR "fifteen minutes of fame" chance to be interviewed about your affiliation with cryonics, or just the next time you are in conversation about it at a party, to PLEASE clarify that this medical intervention is usually affordable through life insurance. We know there are significant and entrenched meme-sets which have heretofore been arguably at the heart of this technology not being more widely adopted. At least one of these has been, also arguably, the public perception that "cryonics is for really rich folks...not people like me." We can change this perception easily. Well, easier than changing the superstitious nonsense and charlatanism that passes for religion, anyway. (Oops...did I offend someone?...too bad. Religion has gotten a free pass for too long, with only a few thought leaders like Daniel Dennet, Sam Harris, and Richard Dawkins daring to go against the grain and expose the truth of this massive fraud.) So, before I get on a rant here, I will close, trying to remember that "good postings have one theme, easily assimilated and remembered. " So, to review. :) Scenario: Your cryonics views and interest, and the articulate and interesting way you present them, have earned you a spot on "Oprah." You will be viewed and heard by tens of millions of soccer moms and beer guzzling, unkempt men watching you because they are in between jobs, as well as many thoughtful, surprisingly deep people who will tune in. Yippee! In the short period of time you are allowed, and in multiple contexts to reduce the chance for loss in the editing room floor, you emphasize that "CRYONICS IS AN AFFORDABLE OPTION THROUGH LIFE INSURANCE!" (Well, you don't actually HAVE to shout...but please make sure this concept comes through loud and clear.) Please get this in your interview, along with other reasonable and rational reasons why people should consider joining one of the greatest adventures possible in human existence. Why they should be a member of one of the most select, rare, and elite groups on the planet, the order of "fully signed and funded cryonicists." Here endeth my request. This request has been lodged in your brain so forcefully and deeply, that you won't forget to do this even when the performance anxiety and fear of public speaking are causing strange chemicals to circulate throughout your body and brain. In other words, you'll remember this even when you are scared shitless being interviewed! LOL Thank you all for being a vital part of this growing, forward thinking, and brilliant community. Perhaps some will look back at this still pioneering time with fondness, when cryonicists were still "outliers" too small to show as a bump on almost any demographic curve. But the march of progress and technology remains in our favor, and someplace down the road we can look back with pleasure at being "ahead of the curve" in our support of cryonics.
