Subject: New Bionic Woman On TV....

Hi: The television gods have decided once again to re-create another science
fiction tv show from the '70's. A new Bionic Woman is on the schedule for the
fall...In cryonics, there are some people who are interested in the concept of
human/machine/computer hybrids or real "cyborgs" in future life cycles. There
are references to nanotech in the new series as well.

I'm glad that they are trying to bring back BW. It could be a
conversation/topic starter in some circles re: bioethics, etc,
something cryonics/life extension advocates have had to tackle over
            the years.

Here in a link to the new Bionic Woman website with preview clips
and other features that may be of interest:

There is some controversy about the show even before the first
episode has been screened. The BW is portrayed by a British
actress who has feverishly trained to get an American accent. The
show's creators couldn't find a pool of thousands of American
actresses to audition for the role? BW's sister in the program
is portrayed as being a deaf person. The issue is the deaf sister
is played by a hearing actress who is reported on the viewer
comments on the BW site as using a fake version of ASL (American
              Sign Language)

They couldn't find a real deaf actress either? The deaf thing is most likely
  a plot device to

set up a future episode where the sister gets her own bionic hearing
  capability, etc....

I think it's all kind of interesting to see how it goes. I
agree with other viewers comments who are suggesting cameo
appearances by the original BW, Lindsey Wagner. It'd be great to
see her again on series TV instead of those cheesy commercials
that are currently in heavy rotation....
           Best Regards! John B. Krug
