Subject: Doctors' Mob Riot - No UAGA Back Then

So the way medical students got specimens to work on, was to go out at
night and find them, themselves.

There was neither any law against it, nor a Uniform Anatomical Gift Act
for people to donate their body/parts for research.

If the Libertarian/Anarchist types had had their way all those centuries,
we would still be in that situation today.

Mike Perry, who guards Alcor's dewars from intrusion, would have to have
a bigger shotgun to do that.

We would probably already have better quality/lower toxicity brain
vitrification, though, because there would be no law against doing the
research, much less on animals, nor starting the preservation process
before pronouncement of death.

Family arguments over how a deceased relative's remains are handled,
would be decided on the basis of who is the best shot.

Fictitious firms such as corporations would not exist, and groups of
individuals who start up enterprises would be individually responsible
for their actions. But only if somebody disagreed with one or more of
them, which would probably happen.

Life expectancy would still be about 37, because there would be no
incentive to do research to cure the common diseases from back then. No
patent protection. No legal protection against theft of inventions, nor
the umbrella of an anonymous entity (corporation). Heck, we would not
even have the telephone, the automobile, much less the airplane, because
no one's research would be safe from copying it.

No computers either. Those became the new anarchy, ironically enough - a
device that makes idea and creativity theft so easy.

Any Singularity AI would most certainly be amused, if it could have
happened without computers, of course.
