That's pretty much what Rudi recommended to me last time I talked to him
about life insurance.

(There are always "middle men" who are paid to sell to/help clients.  Some
work "directly" for life insurance companies, some work outside the
companies, like Rudi.)

When I was trying to get life insurance for cryonics, Rudi was the only
person that I found, either internal or external to the life insurance
companies, who 1)knew which life insurance company's policies and which
kinds of policies are accepted by the cryonics organizations, and 2)who
would also return my calls.

Wow! That's exactly the phrase Rudi used when we spoke, "buy term insurance
and invest the difference"

Mr. Flavonoid, have you personally spoken to Rudi about life insurance? You
seem to think that he is a stereotypical life insurance salesman.  I assure
you that he is not.
