The notion of forming a cryonics insurance co has been around for a long time. So far, the necessary money (remember that the government(s) ask that an insurance company be VERY well funded so that it can suitably redeem any policies which fall due) simply hasn't been raised. The problem with cryonics is that similar financial problems to those of insurance companies will automatically arise. 60 year olds are more likely to die than 20 year olds. Essentially, the cryonics group would be acting as a life insurance company. Govt regulators would not like that at all... and for that matter, it would not be in our interest to behave that way, because of the risk of having to "redeem" a suspension agreement with someone who dies long before he/she's expected to. Suspension costs money, as you may have noticed. In the very long term, what you say will almost certainly happen, one way or another. In that sense I suspect that almost every cryonicists is in favor of it. But for now it's just a dream. Best and long long life, Thomas Donaldson Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=2980
