Subject: SAI-- Maxim-- charade-- big picture
Maxim has updated a thread on the SA C81 case in Cold
Filter-- and continues to expose bad things going on
there.
http://www.network54.com/Forum/291677/message/1192535422/SA%27s+Protocol
She indicates there may be deeper problems-- that are
the basis for the visible problems. She writes...
"My purpose in coming to this forum was to expose what
I believed to be a charade being carried out at SA. I
initially believed Charles Platt to be the sole
orchestrator of that charade, and Saul Kent, Ben Best
and SA's clients to be the main victims. Now, I'm
beginning to feel the charade is much larger than I
previously imagined, and I'm no longer sure who the
perpetrators are, or whom the victims are. "
My comment-- I've been an Alcor member since '91 and
have watched cryonics since '78. I'm not an expert in
any relevent area but I've personally met a lot of
people in cryonics. Admittedly-- I have my own
angles-- and views... and problems-- but the idea that
SA is a charade is, in my view, a distinct
possibiilty.
The very simply way to look at this entire thing is
this-- Kent/Falloon are Alcor members and Alcor is an
integrated cryonics service provider. Presumably
Kent/Falloon would be interested in working through
Alcor's board to upgrade Alcor's capaibilities for
themselves and the rest of the members. Even the SA
facility could operate-- theoretically-- as an Alcor
station-- if they wanted it that way.
But they don't.
Why not? Why are these Alcor members-- NOT as
interested in upgrading Alcor as the REST of us Alcor
members??? What do they NOT like about Alcor?
A few relevent points-- Kent/Falloon had Florida
Cryonics Society in the 80's-- which I guess I never
really understood either-- in terms of its
relationship to Alcor although Darwin did visit that
lab on occasion-- so there must have been some
connection. SAI is a continuation of that lab, in my
view. Discover the purpose of THAT lab and you
discover the purpose of SAI. Another point-- Kent
toured the US in the 60's to "consolodate" cryonics--
or to put it another way-- you could think of it as
"owing" cryonics. Is that the bottom line essence of
what's going on here?
Kent's Timeship is supposed to house 10,000 cryonauts.
SAI is supposed to have state of the art
preservation-- with worldwide field reach. 21st
Century Medicine has patents on the latest
preservation chemicals. If you understand this in the
context I do, you can easily see that Kent is
continuing his mission to "consolodate" (own) cryonics
over his lifespan.
Maybe in Kent's view, Alcor is Chamberlain. And of
course, CI is Ettinger. TT and ACS-- whatever is left
of them-- is Segall. Maybe Kent sees himself as one of
the original pioneers and wants to make his mark.
Maybe he resents the idea that Alcor became dominant.
Maybe he has his eyes on the business end of things
and sees the following...
There are 1000 cryonics members-- more or less-- each
with about 50K on average insurance or funding--
$50,000,000 in future money can move in cryonics-- or
more-- It's not hard to imagine that doubling and
growing 10X-- creating a billion dollar industry....
that directly challenges cremation and burial--
already big industries.
The only thing Suspended Animation Inc has to do is
lead us all to suspend our disbelief in non-nanotech
reanimation possibilities-- and that would explain
CPlatt's mission-- as a science fiction writer at
SAI-- to help suspend disbelief. Catherine Baldwin's
credentials look really good and that is again,
another attempt to continue to make it easy to suspend
disbelief in SA's capabilities-- the question there
is-- is she signed up? This much isn't even clear.
The whole thing is quite asonishing to me. But not
quite as astonishing as the absence of CryoNet posts.
I'm surmising that everyone in the inner circles in
cryonics have gone to private email lists.
