X-Message-Number: 29952 Date: Thu, 18 Oct 2007 00:43:54 -0400 From: "Charles Platt" <> Subject: Followup to Conference Report I'm glad that 2Arcturus posted a link to his (or her) conference report, because it contains a lot of detail that I skipped or missed, and provides a useful alternate viewpoint. He (or she) paid much closer attention to some of the speakers than I did. I would like to offer one small amendment to the 2Arcturus version. Paraphrasing a speaker, she (or he) wrote: "Alcor has never had a patient declared brain dead." This leaves the door open for a misunderstanding. Technically the statement may be true, but Alcor has certainly received a lot of patients who _were_ brain dead. In extreme instances these include victims of autopsies. Corrections to my text: I listed Barry Aarons as speaking on the Saturday. I believe he spoke on the Friday. Either way, I missed his speech. Brian Wowk pointed out that, contrary to my report, he didn't use the "same old" diagram depicting water molecules reorganizing themselves as they form ice. Perhaps the spoken-word part sounded so familiar, my brain automatically supplied the graphic. Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=29952
