You must distinguish between conscious and unconscious fear. The  
first is a result of culture, which carries its own baggage. The  
second is a fundamental aspect of the human condition.

The Ettinger quote is faulty, because it tries to explain logically  
why the fear should not exist, however, the fear operates below the  
level of logic.
