I have a friend in England who has explored the possibilities for
promoting cryonics in the Second Life virtual realm. My sense is that
she began feeling optimistic, but became less so.

I believe a problem may be that Second Life is in many ways a refuge
from some of the least pleasant aspects of reality, and sickness and
death would be the least pleasant of all. It may be difficult to
interest people in the idea of "cheating death" while they are in a
realm that creates the illusion that real death does not exist.
