Just off hand, it seems like a lot of the advantages of self insurance
could also be obtained by encouraging *pre-payment* of the suspension -
with the cryonics organization offering FINANCING.

At the least, this would remove the inflation factor and give the org
use of the money beforehand. People would be purchasing something
*today* - at *today's* prices, and they wouldn't have to worry about
whether their coverage is going to be sufficient if they happen to live
a long time. (Meanwhile the org would receiving its payment at the time
of the sale - which should work out better with regards to current
costs, etc.) It seems like there would be a lot less regulatory hassle
(anyone can offer financing), and it would be easier to refuse financing
to the last-minute cases. And, if it's possible to tailor the term of
the loan to, say, the age of the purchaser...
