Rudi sez [in brackets]

[In the vernacular acronym, WTF?]

That's what I said - WTA? WTF?!!

[Flav, whoever you are, even in the rarified air of cryonics weirdness,
you
are representing an extreme, unsupportable, paranoid, fear mongering
position
here that makes you an outlier among outliers.]

In the rarified air of civilization, the WTA, and people like you who
support it, are representing an extreme, dangerous position that may
result in the destruction of the human race as we know it, the
possibility of living on in machines being of little consolation.

[The values of the WTA, and humanism in general, are HIGHLY pro human,
pro
INDIVIDUAL, and pro cryonics. As evidenced by their websites,
discussion
boards, conferences, and numerous individual discussions with humanists
and
transhumanists.]

What does chatting and partying have to do with being pro human etc? I
can just as easily assert that such activities and events are merely a
trap to get people to contribute and to otherwise support a fanatical
cause.

[There is also the documentable fact that there is considerable overlap
among
cryonicists and the transhumanist communities. (I know this for a fact
because I attend both conferences, and have many cryonics clients who
are also
WTA members.]

There is also considerable overlap between cryonicists and those who do
NOT support the advent of a Singularity AI. Your point is? Oh, that's
right - they are your best insurance customers.

[Have you actually READ Kurzweil's books, by the way? Or Drexler's?
Or, for that matter, actually read the WTA or humanist websites]

Enough to make me ill if I think about it too much. Instead I try to
enjoy life while I still can, before humanity's self-inflicted
Singularity hits.

[ the blurb you quoted does not remotely support
your rantings about a transhumanist forced assimilation.]

Then why are they promoting the book?

[Relax, Flav. The Borg doesn't want you.]

That's because they are voting for Ron Paul, I presume? Now THAT's
"extreme".

[But you, dear Flav, are WAY out there! LOL! ]

I surmise this familiarity with "way out there" comes from your years of
experience huckstering MLM schemes and Christian funnymentalism? (before
he started selling insurance to cryonicists, I hasten to explain to the
reader unfamiliar with the background)

[And I will leave it to the individual reader to decide if a
contribution
toward the WTA is helpful and a worthwhile use of resources or not.]

So far you have Billy Seidel. I'm sure you will be actively soliciting
your personal and customer contact list for support in this matter, and
one or two other CryoNet posts will show up.

[Bill Falloon, one of the smartest cryonicists (and humans) I know
obviously
thinks enough of this struggling organization to commit $25,000.]

It's Faloon; don't insult the man. Bill is a bright business man but has
a history of being a bit naive on people and causes. He was even
enthralled by Jonathan Despres for a while, maybe no longer, I don't
know. He would do well to participate in some cryonics forums, get a
bigger picture. You will of course say "he is such a busy man" and that
is probably the problem -- too busy to determine what is really going on
certain places where he truly and indeed should.

[ A tiny and nascent group spreading the memes of individual choices in
self-enhancement, free speech and self expression, encouraging
rationality in
public policy]

Then why don't they stick to doing just that, instead of supporting
unguarded movement towards a Singularity? I have no objection to AI
itself, as long as there are adequate controls. You can read all the
stuff you claim I don't until your eyes bulge out, and find practically
no mention of adequate controls and safeguards. And, why doesn't the
WTA plan to use their beg money for some useful development type work
instead of dog & pony shows? (Oh, wait - we are probably better off if
they don't!) But are magazines, websites and road shows what people
ought to want to donate to??

[But, as always, the cryonet community thanks you for your vigilance.]

You speak for them all? ls your name already "Rudi H. Borg"? If not it
is certainly a type A personality gone berserk.

[a "Borg cube" who is likely to seek you out, Flav, and
extend it's evil nanofiber tendrils to your juicy human flesh while
intoning,
"RESISTANCE IS FUTILE. YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED!
 Warmly and Professionally Yours, ]

That was truly very professional. As soon as I figure out which
profession it is representative of, I will let you know. The amazing
thing to me is the cryonicists who think it is a professional
representation of an insurance salesman. (Or is it?!) Your other posts
even more colorfully blasting other people (obviously not your customers)
precede you in your reputation.

Adequately warmed for now,

Flav
