I've been following the recent discussion on Cryonet about the WTA. As Rudi
noted, I'm the new Executive Director for the World Transhumanist
Association, so it's obvious that I support their mission.

I'd like to state for the record that Cryonics is one of the primary
technologies that the WTA supports and many of our members are cryonics
members (I'm a fully funded Alcor member). Both Tanya Jones and Ralph
Merkle presented at the TransVision 2007 conference, and Ralph Merkle is a
member of and spoke at my "Silicon Valley Transhumanist Association Meetup
Group (http://transhumanism.meetup.com/77/). Ralph spoke for about 90
minutes on Alcor, cryonics and nanotechnology.

I don't know where Flavonoid came up with the statement that our Student
Outreach roadshow would be stumping for Kurzweil's book The Singularity is
Near. We haven't even discussed the content of the presentations yet. The
picture included on the www.transhumanism.org/match webpage merely shows a
Transhumanist student group from Stanford who made a presentation at one of
the Singularity Summits as an example of students presenting Transhumanist
memes.

The WTA specifically supports technologies such as biotech, nanotech,
cryonics and artificial intelligence to help individuals achieve longer,
healthier, smarter and happier lives -

BTW, personally I've donated over a thousand dollars to Alcor, helped raise
money for Alcor by calling other members during last year's fund drive, and
have taken the Transport Team Training Session. I consider myself to be a
good cryonics supporter!

Best regards,

James Clement

Executive Director

World Transhumanist Association (www.transhumanism.org)
